AKRON, Ohio – Akron Zoo has revamped its Boo at the Zoo.
The event, in its 38th year, is now Boo at the Zoo: Ultimate Fall Fest. It runs on three consecutive weekends: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 11-12, Oct. 18-19 and Oct. 25-26.
The zoo will be decorated in themed areas such as Halloween Town, Witch’s Lair and Autumn Adventure. Activities include potato toss, pumpkin bowling, character meet-and-greets and a monster show. Trick-or-treating will take place in the Enchanted Candy Trail. An Oktoberfest area will be available for those 21 and older.
Halloween costumes are encouraged, but adults are prohibited from covering their faces with masks, mascot heads or face paint.
The event includes the Teal Pumpkin Project, which provides non-food options for any guest with food allergies.
Zoothing Boo at the Zoo is 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25. Attendees with different abilities will be able to trick-or-treat and enjoy activities without loud noises and crowds before the zoo opens. Tickets are separate from general admission. Go to akronzoo.org/zoothing-boo-at-the-zoo.
Treater tickets range from $16 to $20. Non-member observers are $13 to $17. It’s free for Akron Zoo members, but tickets are required. Infants under 2 not trick-or-treating get in for free. Go to akronzoo.org/boo-at-the-zoo.
