CLEVELAND, Ohio — Labor Day weekend Air Show at Burke went well as it didn’t include the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Department ‘Downtown Patrol’ unit trying to chase down speeding jets like the Air Force Thunderbirds.

Sad to say it would not have been surprising to see since one Sheriff deputy has led two reckless chases in the past six months resulting in three deaths. Two of those deaths were of an innocent driver and bystander. The first fatal chase was in March, the second was in late August.

Deputy Kasey Loudermilk has been placed on administrative leave for those chase crashes.

Cleveland civil rights attorney Subodh Chandra has said two deadly crashes with the same deputy opens Cuyahoga County to civil claims of ‘reckless retention,’ and the deputy to possible reckless homicide charges.

“The problem is starring them in the face, and they aren’t doing anything about it,” said Chandra

‘Today in Ohio’ podcast hosts echoed Chandra’s comments. They question why Cuyahoga County Council “will not rein in or abolish a sheriff’s unit that is out of control and certain to cost taxpayers big money in civil lawsuits”
