Tom Hicks, the former owner of MLB’s Texas Rangers, NHL’s Dallas Stars and English soccer club Liverpool, has died. He was 79.
Hicks died peacefully on Saturday in Dallas surrounded by his family, his spokesperson Lisa LeMaster said, the AP reports.

The Stars and Rangers each issued statements remembering the late Hicks.
“I am deeply saddened by the passing of Mr. Hicks,” Stars owner, governor and chairman Tom Gaglardi said in a statement. “From day one of my ownership, he was always willing to help me however he could. His advice and insight were invaluable to me as a first-time owner of an NHL team. The entire Stars franchise is indebted to Mr. Hicks and we one of the premier teams in the NHL because of his ownership.”
“We extend our condolences to the family of former owner Tom Hicks, who passed away on Saturday night at the age of 79,” the Rangers wrote in a post to X.
