Jeep leaves a paper trail on way to impound lot: Pepper Pike Police Blotter

Disabled motor vehicle: Shaker Boulevard

Checking on a possibly disabled 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee around noon on June 16, police noticed the driver, a Parma Heights man, 43, had a blank piece of paper displayed in the rear window.

He apparently intended for it to serve as a decoy for his vehicle registration, leading to a ticket for improper display of license plates and the Jeep getting towed.

Fraud, grand theft: South Woodland Road

A resident reported June 25 that within the past week, someone posing as him walked into a bank and somehow withdrew $1,000 out of his checking account, with an investigation continuing.

Domestic violence: Shaker Boulevard

Police obtained an arrest warrant for an East Cleveland man June 26, the same day that a woman brought domestic violence allegations against him, with no further information immediately available as the investigation continued.

Warrant served: St. Clair Avenue

The Ohio Highway Patrol reported June 13 they had made a traffic stop downtown and had in custody a Cleveland man, 21, showing a warrant from Pepper Pike for previous charges of expired plates and driving under suspension there on March 28.

Troopers transferred custody and he spent a few days in the Beachwood jail before receiving a personal bond.

Traffic stop: Lander Road

Stopping a Kia with one working headlight at 10 p.m. June 16, Pepper Pike police found that the driver, a Columbus woman, 27, had an active warrant with Mayfield Heights.

Officers transferred custody and had her car towed.

Stopping a Chevrolet Equinox for a stop sign violation at 2 p.m. June 28, police also found plates that expired April 12 as well as a license suspension in effect against the driver.

The Akron man, 22, and his passenger were given a courtesy ride by the tow truck driver called to the scene.
