KIRTLAND, Ohio — Lake County residents with questions about their property tax bills will have a chance to hear from Treasurer Michael Zuren next month.

Zuren will host an informational presentation at 6 p.m. March 9 at the Kirtland Library, focusing on recent and proposed changes to Ohio’s property tax system.

The session comes as several major tax reforms approved in 2025 move toward implementation.

Those changes stem from a series of bills signed into law by Gov. Mike DeWine, which Zuren described as “the most significant overhaul of Ohio’s property tax structure in decades.”

During the presentation, Zuren is expected to walk through what the new laws do, how reappraisal schedules may change, and how credits, discounts and other mechanisms are designed to moderate future increases. He will also touch on additional legislation under consideration that could further affect property taxes.

Beyond the policy changes, the session will take a broader look at how property taxes work in Lake County, including how much revenue is collected each year, where that money goes, and how it supports local services such as schools, police and fire departments, emergency medical services, road maintenance and infrastructure.

A question-and-answer period will follow, allowing attendees to ask how the changes may affect their own tax bills.

Attendance is limited to 45 people due to room capacity, and advance registration is required through the Kirtland Library’s website.

Residents seeking additional information about property taxes, payment schedules or assistance programs can also contact the Lake County Treasurer’s Office directly.
