BEACHWOOD, Ohio — Ohio Lt. Gov. Jim Tressel joined Mayor Justin Berns and company officials Thursday (June 26) morning for the grand opening of Beachwood’s newest business, Millennium Control Systems.
The opening was nearly a year in the making as it was in July, 2024 when City Council approved incentives to aid Millennium in its move from Eastlake to the northern portion of Beachwood’s mammoth service garage building.
Millennium is now occupying 115,000 square feet of that building, once a JoAnn Fabrics warehouse, while the city’s service department will continue to operate from the 147,000-square-foot southern portion at 23550 Commerce Park Road.
Millennium is an industrial automation and control systems provider that, a year ago, was said to be closing in on $100 million in annual sales. The company had been seeking larger headquarters in Northeast Ohio or Western Pennsylvania before choosing Beachwood.
Millennium, last July, came to a deal by agreeing to employ at least 70 people and maintain a $6-million payroll. It also pledged to make $2 million in improvements to its new home.
Council agreed to give Millennium a $100,000 forgivable loan.
“This expansion underscores Millennium’s commitment to pursuing market growth opportunities and enhancing its service portfolio in automation, energy management, and power distribution,” a Millennium release stated on the occasion of its Beachwood grand opening.
Also in attendance for the grand opening were customers, company partners, and executive representatives from the Grenzebach Group, a German family-owned company of which Millennium is a subsidiary.
Millennium specializes in delivering automation solutions for industry, from concept development to system implementation and process optimization.
Following the formal program, Millennium hosted a family event for employees and their families, featuring food trucks and entertainment.
“We’re excited to see Millennium expand in Beachwood and invest not only in Ohio’s proud manufacturing legacy, but in the people of this region,” Tressel told those gathered. “When companies grow, they create new opportunities for Ohioans to learn, work, and lead — and they help our young people see a strong future for themselves right here at home.”
Said Berns, “Millennium’s decision to headquarter in Beachwood highlights our city’s strength as a center for innovation and growth. We look forward to a lasting partnership rooted in shared values-advancement, opportunity, and community.
“We are proud to welcome Millennium to Beachwood, their presence will bring meaningful benefits to our residents, workforce, and local economy.”
Millennium expects to add about 40 new jobs at its new location.
“Today is a testament to our dedicated employees and the collaborative spirit that drives our success,” said Millennium CEO and Grenzebach North America CCO Joseph Chuhran. We thank each and every one of our employees that have helped us reach this milestone.
“We are proud to contribute to the local economy and nurture a vibrant workplace culture built on teamwork and engagement.”
