Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi disclosed Wednesday that doctors discovered cancerous cells on her cervix, a diagnosis that came after four years of monitoring abnormal test results, Page Six reports.
The 38-year-old “Jersey Shore” reality television personality shared the news in a TikTok video, explaining that recent medical procedures including a colposcopy and biopsy revealed the concerning findings. She now faces a biopsy under anesthesia to remove a cone-shaped sample of abnormal tissue to determine whether she will need a hysterectomy.
“Results come back. Doctor calls me and he’s like, ‘Not looking great.’ He found cancerous cells on the top of my cervix,” Polizzi said in the video.
The television personality, who has three children with husband Jionni LaValle, acknowledged the emotional weight of potentially losing her uterus, even though she has completed her family.
“As a woman, the thought of getting a hysterectomy is just sad and scary,” she said. “Getting the hysterectomy and then not being able to have kids, I think that’s what’s killing me.”
Despite her fear, Polizzi emphasized her commitment to treatment.
“I’m terrified. It’s scary, but we have to get it done because cervical cancer is nothing to joke about,” she said, adding that she will do “whatever to keep me healthy and safe to be here for my kids that I have now.”
Polizzi used the moment to encourage other women to stay current with their screenings, admitting she had postponed her own appointments due to anxiety about both the results and the discomfort of the procedures.
“I waited on my damn appointments because I knew I might not get great results but also because I didn’t want to feel the pain,” she said. “Just making this video to spread awareness to make sure you get your pap smears. And if your doctor calls you to do it again, do it.”
