WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Ohio State football’s trip to Purdue on Saturday had some extra meaning for Ryan Day and his family.
RJ Day, the oldest of Ryan’s three kids, was on a recruiting visit with the Boilermakers as they hosted his dad’s team.
RJ is a quarterback at St. Francis DeSales High School in Columbus, Ohio. As a prospect in the 2027 recruiting class, he is an unrated player.
The trip to West Lafayette capped what was an eventful weekend for the son of Ryan and Nina Day.
RJ threw for a school record 482 yards in DeSales’ playoff-opening win against Ashland High School. He also threw three touchdowns, including a game-winning score to tight end Jordan Karhoff — a four-star prospect who Ohio State is targeting in the 2027 class.
Following the victory, RJ made the trip to Indiana where he watched his dad’s team beat Purdue.
RJ will be back on the gridiron Friday for a matchup with Washington High School. The winner will advance to the OHSAA Region 7 championship game.
