BROADVIEW HEIGHTS, Ohio
Fraud, Broadview Road: On Sept. 12, a resident of Illinois called police regarding a fraud complaint.
The woman told a police officer she received a call from a Broadview Road bank stating someone attempted to withdraw money from her bank account using her information.
The officer went to the bank and talked to an employee, who said the day before a female suspect — missing her top teeth — had a picture ID and withdrawal slip for $2,500.
However, the bank teller noticed the signatures didn’t match.
That’s when the bank employees questioned the female, who didn’t have access to the phone number listed on the account.
The suspect also said she and her husband had prior problems with the bank and were planning on closing her account.
She even offered to lower the withdrawal amount to make things easier.
The bank employee thought it was odd, considering no one else was listed on the account and the suspect couldn’t tell them how much was in the account.
Police are investigating.
Threats, Royalwood Road: On Sept. 11, a Royalwood Road resident came to the police station to report ongoing threats.
The man said the issue revolves around his son, who disagrees with how the family is handling proper care for his ailing ex-wife.
Police are investigating.
